Our Story
The CAP Team
Meet Cassandra
Project Coordnator
Camotes Island became Cassandras new home to pursue her full time freediving career at Camotes Freediving. Despite the beauty of her new island home, she couldn’t ignore the horrific state of street animals and the inhumane population control methods that are used to try and hide the problem.
CAP started in March 2023, but Cassandras background in animal welfare started over 15 years ago. It was her mom (Darci Galati) who founded a non profit that partnered animal welfare services with the tourism industry. With her lifelong background in animal welfare, Cassandra continued her mothers legacy to develop animal welfare programs in her new home. It would be exactly 10 years later Cassandra hosts her very spay and neuter clinic on Camotes.
“I’ve been caught off guard by how engrossed I’ve become in this project. The animals here have curled up into my heart and their impact on me will stay there forever.
I hope to design CAP so that it can belong to and be embraced by the communities of Camotes. Creating a foundation through local collaboration will ensure the longevity of the Aspin Project. If even a small amount of our impact lives on, we will have succeeded.”
Meet Ren
Executive Assistant
Ren was Introduced to the Camotes Aspin Project when she met Cass. She joined forces with Cass to bring her vision to life and is driven by her own passion for dogs and cats. Rens role handles responsibilities such as tracking expenses, documenting activities, and collaborating with the team on our latest programs.
“Being part of this organization brings me immense joy. Beyond tasks, it’s the shared passion, impactful contributions, and fulfillment from working towards a cause I deeply care about. I am genuinely happy to be part of a team dedicated to creating positive change.”
Meet Hannah
Youth Coordinator
Hannah plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our cause. Charged with coordinating our dynamic volunteer youth team, Hannahs role involves guiding our volunteers through CAP programs so that we can educate and inspire animal welfare advocacy within the team. Without her, we would not have a local volunteer force.
Hannah helps us to empower young advocates to speak up for animal welfare causes and fosters a culture of compassion.
